Positive Behavior Intervention Support

Goal:

The goal of PBIS is to improve student academic and behavior outcomes.  PBIS is about ensuring all students have access to the most effective and accurately implemented behavior practices and interventions possible.

PBIS provides a framework for achieving these outcomes.  More importantly, PBIS is NOT a curriculum, but it is a decision-making framework that guides selection and implementation of the best evidence-based behavioral practices for improving behavior outcomes for all students.

Universal Expectations:

Universal Expectations are 3-5 positively stated expectations that are defined by location. They establish the expectation, for all students and adults. Universal Expectations promote a culture of consistency, a culture of fairness, and can be systemically taught, reinforced and corrected.

Examples of Universal Expectations:

  • Be Respectful
  • Be Responsible
  • Be Safe
