Mrs. Kreider's Technology Project Gets Funded!

Mrs. Kreider's project was funded through the website DonorsChoose.org. CONGRATULATIONS!

Project Description: "Recently my district was able to purchase Smart Boards for all the upper grade classrooms. I am fortunate to have this amazing technology in my own class. It would be very helpful to have a portable computer in the classroom to do more Smart Board lessons and another to have for student use.

My students are both fourth and fifth graders. They are all special and unique children who love technology and thrive on engaging lessons and activities. They are all intelligent and hardworking, and they would love to have additional computers in the classroom.

I think having these computers in the classroom will not only enhance the learning and engagement of the students, but students will be able to have more access to technology."

"I can't thank you all enough for your generous donations to my Technology Project. It is such a great feeling to know that you all share the same vision to reach students through the use of technology! With technology becoming more important in school and the work force this is a tremendous step to giving them access!

The resources that you have funded will enable students to interact with Smart Board lessons, research topics for projects, play learning games that are motivational and fun, and increase student access to resources such as Scoot Pad, Accelerated Reader, and KidBlog.

I know my students will appreciate the increased technology in the classroom, and they can't wait to start using it!"

With gratitude,
Mrs. Kreider

Technology Collections for Teachers, Parents, and Students

At VHES we believe that everyone needs to be involved with the current advances in technology that are available to schools and their students. To help meet that goal we have established three collections/boards where each group can go to find new and exciting advances in technology that are tailored to meet their unique needs. Please come back often as new content will be regularly added. If you have questions or suggestions please contact:

National PTA - Common Core Video Series

The Common Core State Standard videos were designed to educate parents on the Common Core State Standards and empower them to support the transition at school and at home. The videos highlight three key principles:

  • We need clear, consistent and rigorous standards across the country to ensure all students—regardless of their zip code—graduate with the higher order thinking skills needed for college and careers.
  • The standards reflect the relevant knowledge and skills that young people need to succeed in college and to build and maintain an American workforce that can compete in the global economy.
  • National PTA’s goal is for parents to be knowledgeable about the standards and new assessments and to support them every step of the way as states transition to the standards.
