VHES - Schoolwide Parent Texting System

VHES is adding another level to our communication effort with parents called Remind. We are now going to be able to send short "text" messages. This will be in the form of simple reminders, but can also be employed in emergencies. To register:

send text to this number: (951) 767-8757

add this to the message box: @vhes2014

We urge you to enroll now. This program is an opt-in program. You will not be included unless you take the time to enroll yourself. All phone numbers remain anonymous within the system. Thank you for helping us to improve our school to home communication.

Dear Vintage Hills Families,

Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year! We opened our doors to 741 students, 33 teachers and 14 support staff. We are FISH Philosophers! A great school culture isn’t something you pay attention to after the learning has taken place. It’s a foundation that makes learning possible. FISH! for schools is a philosophy that strengthens social/emotional learning, character education, classroom management and human behavior. To find out more, please visit: www.fishphilosophy.com.  So…O’FISH-ially speaking, our school of fish has just completed our first week of the new school year! It has been one of our best starts ever!

Please mark your calendar! Our Back to School Night is next Wednesday, August 27th.  We will begin promptly at 6 pm with Teacher Introductions and a Principal’s Welcome. This is a great opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and hear about the new California Common Core curriculum. This evening is designed for adults only. To ensure student safety, children may not be left unsupervised on the playground during Back to School Night presentations.  As always, we thank you for your support!

As many of you have already heard, TVUSD has begun year 2 implementation of the new California Common Core State Standards (CCSS). This is an exciting time in education and marks the first time ever that a like set of internationally bench-marked standards have been adopted by almost every state. The Common Core standards were developed for grades K-12 in the areas of English Language Arts and Mathematics. You may have noticed that Vintage Hills is “Under Kid-struction” and our crew is committed to Building 21st Century Learners and Leaders!

Just a reminder…there is to be no student drop-off, waiting or pickup at Vintage Hills Clubhouse on Meadows Road. This is private property.  If you should have any questions concerning the Vintage Hills Clubhouse regulations, please feel free to contact them directly at 951 693-0632. Thank you for your support and cooperation as we continue to set a positive example in our community. Our Husky Valet Team will be up and running soon and should ease some of the traffic congestion in the mornings. We appreciate your patience!

If you have not yet had a chance to read our school handbook, I want to highlight some important information regarding birthday treats. We want our Huskies to stay fit and healthy!  Therefore, edible treats of any kind for birthday celebrations are no longer allowed on campus. In lieu of food items, consider  celebrating the big day by bringing stickers or pencils, or perhaps donate a book or read a story to the class.

I am looking forward to a wonderful new school year with you and your family. It continues to be an absolute pleasure to serve this community as principal and I can’t wait to spend this year with your child. On the Sea of Success, Greatness, Oh YES!

Our goal is to make aspects of classroom instruction as effective in creating persistence and involvement as observed in video game players. Our games are a result of blending video game features into instructional research in order to achieve a high rate of student learning through increased time-on-task and engagement.
